Zikto to take on the world at Creative Business Cup: Winning Arki wearable technology showcased at prestigious event

The Creative Business Cup kicks off Monday, November 17 in Denmark. This annual world championship for creative entrepreneurs sees national winners from participating countries meet in Copenhagen to compete for the title of world’s best creative entrepreneur. These winning young startups are selected for their revolutionary concepts and market potential in the creative industries. The Creative Business Cup 2014 Winner will be announced on Wednesday, November 19 at a gala awards ceremony. HRH Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark will present the prizes.

Seoul- and Los Angeles-based wearable tech startup Zikto, creators of Arki: Your Walking Coach will represent South Korea at the 2014 Cup as winners of South Korea’s National Final this past August. Zikto CTO Shawn Kim will speak at the three-day event. CEO and co-founder Ted Kim will also be in attendance and available for media interviews during the event.

A step ahead of traditional fitness tracking

Zikto’s brainchild, Arki, melds machine learning technology with traditional activity tracker functionality to create a wearable that not only measures the quantity but promises to improve the quality of users’ movement. Walking is a simple, accessible and beneficial form of exercise for people of all ages and abilities; however, poor walking posture is a common cause of injury, imbalance and potentially more serious health complications. Arki uses sensors including a six-axis motion sensor to measure variables including arm swing, shoulder rotation, and transferred vibration from the feet to build a detailed picture of the user’s walking habits. Real-time haptic feedback reminds the user to maintain good posture through the day, and Arki’s smartphone app provides in-depth data analysis and personalised coaching to correct body imbalances and maximise healthy walking benefits.

Zikto won funding to develop Arki’s game-changing technology through several competitions in South Korea. Following its inception in September 2013, the company has been based at D.Camp (Dream Bank), South Korea’s start-up hub, amongst a similarly talented, passionate entrepreneurial community. Arki’s crowdfunding phase began November 11 with the launch of a Kickstarter that aims to raise $100,000 in 40 days.
